Bad news for the whole world

30 million people could die without food 

The whole world is in a state of lockdown due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Low-income people are most at risk. As a result, the world economy is facing a catastrophic crisis.

According to the World Health Organization, coronavirus has been identified in 185 countries around the world. Of these, 72 countries have implemented full or partial lockdown.

But with the whole economy paralyzed by this lockdown, many countries around the world are starting to think about easing the lockdown.

The World Food Program (WFP) has warned that at least 30 million people could starve to death if the economy continues like this.

And the International Monetary Fund predicts that global growth could lose three percent as the economy stagnates due to the coronavirus.

বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার তথ্য অনুযায়ী, বিশ্বে ১৮৫টি দেশে করোনাভাইরাস শনাক্ত হয়েছে। তার মধ্যে ৮২টি দেশ পুরোপুরি বা আংশিকভাবে লকডাউন প্রয়োগ করেছে।

কিন্তু এই লকডাউনে পুরো অর্থনীতি অচল হয়ে পড়ার কারণে বিশ্বের অনেক দেশ লকডাউন শিথিল করার কথা ভাবতে শুরু করেছে।

বিশ্ব খাদ্য সংস্থা সতর্কবাণী দিয়েছে যে, অর্থনীতি এভাবে চলতে থাকলে বিশ্বের অন্তত তিন কোটি মানুষ অনাহারে মারা যেতে পারে।

আর আন্তর্জাতিক মুদ্রা তহবিল পূর্বাভাস দিয়েছে যে, করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে অর্থনীতি স্থবির হয়ে পড়ায় বিশ্বের প্রবৃদ্ধি তিন শতাংশ হারিয়ে যেতে পারে।
